This is a reading game board activity based on the novel Mudshark by Gary Paulsen. Mudshark is cool. Mudshark is smart. Everyone looks for answers from Mudshark. But can he find the answers to a parrot in the library, missing erasers in classrooms, a gerbil, and a faculty restroom that has some problems. This is a story about how one person works with a group to solve some mysterious happenings in middle school.
All you need as a teacher is some dice and little game pieces that can easily be made from a pencil eraser, paper, etc. Before the game begins, students will need to cut out the 12 comprehension game cards that are included. It is best if the game is copied on colored paper or cardstock. Students enjoy this fun reading activity. Teachers will love how the students are not only having a great time, but also reviewing reading skills while playing!
