PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This movie guide accompanies Disney's 1998 hit Mulan. It can be used in its entirety or you can pick and choose the activities you want. This is an excellent option if you need something for a several days for a sub, or to augment a unit on China with a literacy tie-in.

There are four printable pdf activities:

1. Comprehension Questions
This can be completed during the movie as a guide, or as an assignment after viewing where it would take an estimated 30 minutes.
Assignment description: Thirteen comprehension questions about the movie, given in order of the events in the movie. Some are recall and some require inference. The key is provided.

2. Character Matching
This can be completed during the movie as a guide or as an assignment after viewing where it would take an estimated 25 minutes.
Assignment description: A word bank with the names of eleven characters are at the top of the page. Descriptions of these characters are provided in a table with a place for the students to write in the correct name. The key is provided.

3. Plot Diagram
This is recommended for after the movie and would take an estimated 45 minutes.
Assignment description: Students label the five parts of the plot diagram to the definitions and label a blank plot diagram. Students put ten scrambled events from the movie in sequential order, then draw a plot diagram over these events to show where the events belong in the plot diagram. Keys are provided.

4. Figurative Language
This can be completed before or after the movie, but is not recommended for during the movie. It takes an estimated 50 minutes.
Assignment description: Students are given definitions for figurative language and for four types: similes, metaphors, irony, and symbolism. Students then label eight examples of figurative language from the movie and explain the figurative language's use. The key is provided.
