What happens when María smuggles drugs from Colombia to the U.S. to pursue a better life? During 3-day film viewing of "María llena eres de gracia", we analyze plot, grammar, and six essential questions. Grammar consists of preterite versus imperfect, por versus para, haber. Resource consists of "Repaso gramatical" homework with answers (due 1st day of viewing), "Preguntas polémicas" (due after film), and "Discutimos la película" culminating in a formal, organized, structured debate. Teacher's easy scoring sheet and lesson plan for debate day also included. Students earn 3-HW grades and 1-participation grade, as well as increased understanding and piqued curiosity of drug trafficking, immigration, and women's rights.
