This is a four day SMARTboard lesson to go along with the trade book, "Uncle Jed's Barbershop". The .notebook file includes 17 instructional pages with vocabulary, problem/solution, character analysis, information on The Great Depression, and more. Multiple organizers are included to be used interactively as well as links to printable copies for students.
A printable comprehension story packet is also included to allow students to demonstrate how to answer questions about the text.
An art project is also included to be used as an extension activity.
This unit is aligned with the 3rd grade CCSS and includes a page with an Essential Question, Key Learning, Vocabulary, and the CCSS listed.
The unit was designed using the curriculum Imagine It!, but the unit is more aligned to the book than to the curriculum. There is one page that would require a social studies inquiry story from the textbook, but this page is optional and not using it would not affect the rest of the instruction.
NOTE: All my SMARTboard files allow for teacher editing, adding, or deleting of pages to meet your instructional needs. You must have Notebook software to open this .notebook file. You can download for free a Notebook Express from smarttech.com to view and edit creations.
Be kind. Leave feedback please! I enjoy hearing what other teachers think about my products and constructive criticism is also always welcome. Thank you!
