This unit focuses on teaching students how to add multi-digit numbers. Students practice multi-digit addition with two and three digit numbers.
I made this addition unit with my third graders in mind but it would also work well for high second graders or fourth graders who need a review with multi-digit addition. This unit covers 3.NBT.2 in third grade.
Students cut and glue the mini-lesson into their math notebooks. I use it as a way to introduce my students to multi-digit addition and students are able to refer back to the lesson in their notebooks all year long.

For each skill above that includes three worksheets, one worksheet has the addition equations set up horizontally, one worksheet has the students turn the vertical equations into horizontal equations, and the third worksheet includes word problems with that skill.
There are 3 apple puzzles included. These are great for the back to school season or for use in your math centers! Students have to solve each multi-digit addition equation in order to figure out how to put the apples together!
In the game included, students have to match each "wanted" number to the word problem being described. My students have LOVED this game and think the word problems are hilarious. This game is great for math centers, whole group work, with a partner, in teams, or as a scavenger hunt around the room!
