"Break it Up and Subtract in Parts!" is a math lesson I use when teaching multi-digit subtraction. I use this lesson when exploring/teaching alternative methods to the standard subtraction with regrouping algorithm. I spend 3 or 4 days working through this lesson and the accompanying worksheets. I use this lesson in my grade 3 class but, it would also be appropriate for grade 2, grade 4, grade 5, or any other learning situation (home school, learning assistance,...) where students are learning to subtract multi-digit numbers.
This smart board lesson contains 13 slides and three corresponding worksheets. Most slides have a pull tab with answers or instructions on how to complete the activity.
