This is a great activity to get students out of their seats and moving in math class! This activity includes twelve multi-response/multi-select math problems for 4th and 5th graders that cover a range of topics. Students can work with a partner, small group, or individually to solve the twelve questions while writing the “clue” word for that station on their paper. Once complete, the "clues" will reveal a fact about an animal (hippos for this walk-about). Students can work in whatever order they want, so it is easy to spread them out across the room. Each card is numbered in the upper left star.
Two versions of the activity are included to help make printing easier for you. The first has a color background along with the color stars and boxes. The second has a plain white background with the color stars and boxes. A great option if you are printing on color paper. If “no color” ink is needed, just print the second set in grayscale or pure black & white. I prefer to print each card in landscape mode. Full student answer sheets are included so students can show their work on each problem. Half sheet student answer sheets are also included to help save on paper and copying costs.
