This curriculum is focused on a Multi-Sensory approach to phonics instruction. The curriculum focuses on phonograms (sounds) ranging from ‘-ing’, ‘-ang’, ‘-ong’, ‘-ung’ and floss rule all the way through ‘-gue’. This spans roughly from a first grade level through third grade reading level. This curriculum is also geared towards students who may have learning difficulties and who are struggling with decoding.
Each phonogram (sound) has a daily lesson which includes a PowerPoint, teacher lesson guide, as well as a student pack (only for some sounds). There is also a folder for student daily forms, which is where students will write their work down, as well as a daily teacher planning document.
Every sound has an individual folder that includes a PowerPoint, as well as teacher lesson guide. There is enough material to span 50 days’ worth of phonics instruction. All PowerPoint coincide with the daily lesson structure that is highlighted in the daily planning document and teacher lesson guides. It is recommended to follow a prescribed scope of sequence of sounds, one being the Orton-Gillingham Scope and Sequence, because all daily lessons build upon themselves.
This curriculum is a great tool in the quest to instill strong decoding and literacy skills into the students you teach. This curriculum will surely lessen the burden of planning and material creation for 50 days. It will also surely break down any barriers standing in the way of your students and their right to be excellent readers.
