This resource allows students to practice making a table, or chart, to organize information in multi-step math word problems.
Making a table is a great way to show students how to break the problem down and focus on each piece of information, and it allows students to see the information in a less overwhelming way. Especially in story problems where not every piece of information is given up front, making a table can help students work through the problem without getting lost.
Included in this file are three sets of the group activity cards and recording sheets. In these activities, students work in small groups to solve a word problem. Each student gets one information card, and they must work together to find the missing pieces of information and complete the table to solve their word problem.
