This resource allows students to practice making a table, or chart, to organize information in multi-step math word problems. Making a table is a great way to show students how to break the problem down and focus on each piece of information, and it allows students to see the information in a less overwhelming way.
Included in this file are three sets of the group activity cards. In these activities, students work in small groups of three or four. Each student gets one "information card", and they must work together to find the missing pieces of information and complete the table.
Also included are twelve task cards that show multi-step story problems. Along with the task cards are recording sheets that have tables the students can complete when solving the problem. This allows them to practice organizing the information in the story problem before answering the question.
If you want to use the multi-step story problems without the "make a table" strategy, I included the same story problems without the "make a table" title at the end of the document.
