I used this graphic organizer when teaching how to solve multi-step problems with positives and negative numbers. Students put the sign and number in the larger rectangles and the operation in the smaller squares between the numbers. They solve the first two rectangles by performing the operation between the numbers and write their answer on the next line. This helps kids keep track of which parts of the problem they have left to solve. Put it a sheet protector and practice with expo markers so students can use it multiple times.
