Are you concerned that your students aren't truly interacting with your essential questions and learning goals? Do you want to make sure that your administrators see this happen during your evaluation?
This download has four student slips on one paper. It is a two-page document, intended to be printed/copied double sided then cut into slips.
The front side of the slip requires students to write down the lesson's topic, essential questions and learning goals... THEN assess their own understanding of the EQ and LG before, during and after the lesson. There are boxes for them to record their self assessment multiple times throughout the lesson.
The back side of the slip has the Marzano scale, as well as an area to take a "Quick-Mini Practice Quiz" (QMPQ). However you quiz the students, you should make sure that it directly relates to the EQ/LG from the front side of the slip. They can correlate their QMPQ quiz score to the Marzano learning scale and record it on the front.
The ultimate goal is that students begin the lesson rating themselves low on the scale and, by the end of the lesson, can use the results of the QMPQ to show marked improvement in their understanding of the EQ/LG.
I have used this document with great success in my 9th and 10th grade English classrooms, especially when for preparing for state standardized tests.
This document is the perfect companion for my other product, "Marzano Student Self-Assessment Scale".
Please feel free to contact me with questions! I have several other versions of this document and would be happy to make adjustments on an as-needed basis.
