Multi-digit Multiplication Challenge Menu - No Prep
Just copy and go!
This pack includes two options for a challenge menu for Multi-digit multiplication concepts. There is a Tic-Tac-Toe menu, which asks students to complete any three activities over the course of the unit. There is also a 3-5-7 points menu, which asks kids to set a point goal and then do activities to complete this goal. Both menus contain the same activities, but are presented in different formats. All activities are designed to be completed independently or with a partner, and all activities should be able to be completed with regular classroom supplies. The concepts focus on explaining various methods for multiplication (which students have already learned in the regular lessons), incorporating multiplication into word problems, and experimenting with multiplying money.
I used this as a Grade 4 menu with my students who are high and/or Gifted and Talented in math. This coincides with the concepts in Math Expressions/Houghton Mifflin-Harcourt Unit 5, however it is not exclusive to this curriculum and could be used with any multiplication unit.
