This is a great project at getting the students engaged and thinking critically. The project outlines how the end products can be either a poster or a website depending on your school's resources. Includes a list of technology items for 5 different groups that the students are placed in in order to allow them to help one another with the research. Students will be writing different genres that could explain their technology to someone.
For example a student with the cotton gin could write a "primary source" of a diary entry made by a slave whose master just bought a cotton gin, or a letter from one plantation owner to another.
-Introduction to product
-Detailed explanation of what to look for in a final product made by -Students for each category within the rubric
-Lists of technology for groups
-Differentiation- allows for a lot of student choice in types of genres which can help all learning styles. Highly recommend letting the students choose which of the listed technologies they want within their specified group (for example there is a weapon group, so you can ensure that students who would enjoy this topic get in the group, but they choose the specific technology)
