This activity supports TEKS 4.4H of the new Texas Math Standards and CCSS 4.NBT.B.6
4.4H - solving one and two step problems involving division
4.OA.A.2 - Divide to solve word problems
Included are 8 task cards that will give your 4th or 5th grade students practice solving real-world division word problems that require more than one operation.
These task cards are great to use during your whole group time block in a "Table Scoot" or "Classroom Fieldtrip" activity. Students work in groups moving from table to table or station to station and solve the task card in front of them. Give the students a set amount of time. When time is up all students scoot or travel to the next task card. When time is up for the activity, have students return to their seats and check answers whole group using the answer key. Try to allow time to go over one or two of the most missed questions.
These task cards also provide a great activity to spiral through your math stations. You could also use them in guided groups, as a problem of the day, or as an early finisher activity.
I hope you find this activity helpful in your class.
