This version of MultiPASS has been adapted as a strategy for helping students with mild/moderate disabilities process paired passages beginning with the 4th grade level. The original use of MultiPASS strategy was created to improve reading comprehension of chapters in textbooks for adolescent students with learning disabilities (Schumaker, Deshler, Alley, Warner and Denton, l984).
This adaptation has 3 passes, or purposes, for reading of paired passages.
PASS 1: titles, first paragraphs, illustrations, captions, charts and tables, and maps
PASS 2: text structure, genre’
PASS 3: sort it out
The download includes a multiPASS organizer, progress race track, and visual supports for strategy use.
