I like to play Cooperative Bingo. I love Bingo but wanted my students to cooperate with each other so I made up these game rules. Please adjust to fit your class.
It is basically played like regular bingo but I have students sit in small groups (3 or 4 students). Each student has his / her own card. When I call an object – students first check their own card and cover the space if they have it, and then – without talking – check the other cards in their group. If someone else has the called object on their card, the student points to the space. The card holder can cover that space. This is especially helpful for those with reading or other disabilities.
When a person has a Bingo – everyone in the group gets a prize. (I use Skittles – just one each.) Only one Bingo per group. We play several games so students have lots of chances for Bingo. At the end, I pass out one Skittle to each student for participating – and being a good sport!
I like to use transparent colored chips (from Lakeshore) so students can still see what they have covered up.
