All of the poems or prose pieces have been revised to fit in with the theme of Empathy.

This anthology of 37 poems and 5 essays entitled “Multicultural Empathy, Poems and Prose for Young People,” © July, 2015 written by Norma Landa Flores, author of "Street Corner Flight," poem published in California's Language Art Text for Middle School Students, emphasizes the importance of communicating compassion, sympathy, sensitivity, concern, tolerance, kindness, charity and humanity by expressing empathy, the ability to understand and appreciate the feelings of others in our shared world.

The material in this anthology is appropriate for students in grades 4-5, 6-8, and 9-12. The first part of the collection is suitable for students in grades 4-6. The middle part of the collection is suitable for students in grades 6-8. The last part of the collection is more appropriate for students in grades 9-12. Since many of the writings were originally written to facilitate pronunciation, they may also be suitable for ESL students or students with Learning Disabilities studying in English Language Arts classes at any grade level.

The most important component of “Multicultural Empathy, Poems & Prose for Young People,” is that it makes the concept of Empathy come alive, right in the classroom. Teachers will be able to provide reading, listening, speaking and writing lessons that are relevant to their Multicultural students while both students and teachers enjoy sharing life experiences through words!
