The best way to incorporate multiculturalism into your classroom is to make a conscious effort to include books, posters, and tools in your curriculum and class library that feature multicultural characters as much as possible. I created these alphabet cards to do just that. All too often learning tools use predominately white characters. The USA is a melting pot of cultures. Our classroom tools and activities should reflect all children. My students smile when seeing characters that look like them. I hope your class enjoys using these alphabet cards in learning centers as much as my kids do. These cards are multi-functional and can be used for a variety of different alphabet activities.
Here are a few ways I have used them:
-put in abc order by capital letters and/or lowercase
-match capital to lowercase letter
-run off two sets for memory or go fish
-make CVC words with picture cards in a center
