This is an activity meant to be used to help students understand and apply Gardner's theory of the multiple intelligences.
After learning about Gardner's Multiple Intelligence Theory and taking this inventory
, students are assigned this project as a way of demonstrating their mastery of the intelligences.
Students are put into the role of a teacher. Their job is to pick a topic they would like to teach and design a lesson plan of activities which correspond to the various intelligences. Students must include at least five different activities, each relating to a different intelligence.
For example, if teaching about the brain, you could have students create a play dough brain model (visual/spatial intelligence), create a rap song about the brain parts/functions (musical/rhythmic intelligence), write a paper summarizing brain research (verbal/linguistic intelligence), etc.
Students will not actually carry out the lesson, just design it.
Instructions for the project are included along with a chart for filling out the planned activities and the intelligences they correspond with.
