This resource contains templates for puzzles, foldables, and other fun activities that can be used to explore multiple meaning words from any text. Each activity requires students to do some combination of the following tasks:
1) make a statement about the word's possible meaning using context clues from the text,
2) look up and copy the word's definitions from the dictionary,
3) draw pictures that illustrate the word's different meanings, and
4) write sentences that use each meaning in the correct context.

Most activities have options that allow you to differentiate by choosing the number of words a child explores, or by substituting dictionary definitions for sentences or drawings. A breakdown of the packet's contents is as follows:

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.5.4c Consult reference materials (e.g., dictionaries, glossaries, thesauruses), both print and digital, to find the pronunciation and determine or clarify the precise meaning of key words and phrases
