Homographs are words that have more than one meaning. Put one of the homographs in the box on the left side of the template. Find two definitions that match that word and put them in the boxes to the right of the homograph.
This resource includes 20 words that each have at least two meanings. There are word cards, definition cards, and templates. One template is for practicing matching the definitions. The other goes a step further and is for putting the homographs in sentences using each of the definitions found.
Make several copies of the templates for a literacy center. I glue them onto card stock and then laminate them so they are more durable. I used the small round Velcro stickers. I cut the circles in half for the backs of the word and definition cards. Have students use an Expo or Vis-à-Vis marker to write their sentences on the template or have them say their sentences verbally to a partner. I have some of my students type their sentences.
