This is a PowerPoint mini lesson on multiple meaning words. It explains to the kids how to read around the word for clues and pick the best answer. The last slide refers to a game we played after the presentation. I chose paragraphs that contained an underlined word. I cut them into slips and rolled them up tight. I placed them inside balloons and blew them up and tied them. I made 4 groups using the same paragraph and word for each group 5 times. I kept each round separate in trash bags. The students each had jobs that would rotate each round. One popper, one dictionary detective, one chooser, two judges to verify the correct choice, and one sharer. I sat up chairs at the front of the room and they raced to find the correct definition first. I allowed all teams to share. Keep points for fun. Warn others around you and admin. that you will be popping balloons and the specific time you will do it!!! Funnest game ever!
