  • activities to understand choosing a stance.
  • activities to practice researching a point of view further.
  • activities to find quotes to persuade a stance or point of view.
  • activities to write a persuasive piece to outline their side of the issue. Graphic organizers are included to help your students organize their ideas during the planning process.
  • activities to learn to disagree with respect.

This task aligns with:

  • the Alberta Program of Studies for Grade 5 as one of the general outcomes for all Social Studies programs: multiple perspectives and current events.
