The students LOVE, “It's Not a Worksheet™,” it's five minutes a day (or 10 if you want), and the students learn to multiply. How nice is all that? The students do hundreds of problems a week and none of it is written down. Oh, and teachers love it also because we see amazing results.
Before I start with INAW, I always give my students a pre test to see what they know. It's 5 minutes only and it is written not oral. At the end of the year I give them a post test to see how much they have learned. I am always amazed at the growth!!!!
Two students work together in a competition to see who can do the most multiplication problems in two minutes. One says the answers as fast as he can while the other one checks his page to see if he is right.
If a mistake is made, the student says, "try again." After two minutes they switch and the teacher becomes the student. They compare their score with their partner and with their own previous score to see how much they improved. My students LOVE it! I also LOVE it because they learn to multiply.
My students love to practice multiplication using “It's Not a Worksheet.” I included an example of one of my students who began the year knowing "0" multiplication problems and left the year with doing "97" in two minutes. So many students struggle with basic math facts and it makes higher math challenging for them. By “It's Not a Worksheet,” the students learn to multiply easily and quickly and at their own pace.
I have many more to upload including all single digits through 12 and then two digits together. I also have “It's Not a Worksheet” in division, addition, subtraction and many other areas of math.
