These area model task cards include 20 problems that will help your students develop a deeper understanding of the area model of multiplication.
They are rigorous and common core aligned with 4th grade standard: 4.NBT.B.5:
Multiply a whole number of up to four digits by a one-digit whole number, and multiply two two-digit numbers, using strategies based on place value and the properties of operations. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.
Specifically, the cards include:
★ 15 problems using 2 x 2 digit multiplication
★ 5 problems using 4 x 1 digit multiplication
★ Test-prep type questions, asking students to find the missing information or find the error
