This is a powerpoint presentation lesson that I created for my own 3rd grade classroom to culminate our study of multiplication arrays/repeated addition. This powerpoint covers converting arrays into number sentences, repeated addition sentences, and touches on the commutative property of multiplication. You would start the lesson with partners or individual students having access to whiteboards/math counters or another type of manipulative that they can use to build arrays to follow the slides. After the students have built their arrays and created their number sentences to match, the slide will then offer a self-check as you click through. I use this lesson AFTER I have taught all of the above elements of multiplication. It works great as a review or culminating activity to your array/repeated addition lessons in multiplication. My kids loved it, and it really gave me insight as to the students who still had not mastered the objectives. This lesson takes about 30 minutes to work through but more if it generates a lot of classroom discussion or reteach. I hope your students enjoy it as much as mine did!
