Pilgrim! Turkey! Pumpkin! is a fun way to have your students learn and review their multiplication facts. The game was specifically designed for the Thanksgiving holiday season. This game contains 48 game cards, with each card having a multiplication fact for the student to answer. This set is designed to help students with fact families 9-12 (from 9x1 to 12x12).
Each card is also assigned one of four different “elements,” Pilgrim, Turkey, Pumpkin, or Wild Card. The game is played much like “Paper, Rock, Scissors.” Each element defeats another element and is defeated by an element. Pilgrim defeats Turkey. Turkey defeats Pumpkin. Pumpkin defeats PIlgrim. A Wild card can be any of the three elements.
How to Play:
Shuffle the cards and divide them among the two players.
Each player will take a card from his deck and read the fact out loud, along with the answer.
After answering both facts, students will count “1, 2, 3…” then say the element that is on their cards. The player with the winning element takes both cards. A player with a Wild card must decide and declare the element of his choice before laying down the card.
If there is a tie, the cards are exchanged and put at the bottom of each deck.
The student with the most cards after all cards have been used is the winner.
Remember, Pilgrim defeats Turkey, Turkey defeats Pumpkin, Pumpkin defeats Pilgrim
