Multiplication Facts - Facts to 12 - Math Drills - Practice Worksheets

Target Group:

1) Grades: 2 and 3

My goal as a teacher has always been to create educational resources that inspire students to get excited about learning.

Technique for Teaching Multiplication:

The technique I use to teach multiplication is called Skip Counting. Learning to skip count (counting by 1’s, 2’s, 3’s, 4’s, 5’s ...) is very important to help build a solid foundation for multiplication. When teaching multiplication, I have my students learn to skip count by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s first. Please note that the students have to master skip counting by 1’s before they move on to skip counting by 2’s. When the students have mastered skip counting by 2’s then they learn skip counting by 5’s followed by skip counting by 10’s. Most students already know how to count by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s before they start to learn multiplication, so starting with these numbers will help build the students confidence in multiplication before introducing the next set of numbers which are a lot harder to learn!

Once the students have mastered skip counting by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s and 10’s, then the students should learn skip counting by 3’s followed by skip counting by 4’s. After the students have mastered skip counting by 3’s and 4’s, then the students should learn skip counting by 6’s followed by skip counting by 7’s. When the students have mastered skip counting by 6’s and 7’s, then the students should learn to skip count by 8’s followed by skip counting by 9’s.

Product Description:

The Multiplication Facts Practice Worksheets in this product are great for teachers that are looking for worksheets that start with simple multiplication questions (0 x 1 = 0 or 2 x 3 = 6) and gradually advance to harder multiplication questions (6 x 7 = 42 or 9 x 9 = 81). This product is very well organized and each practice worksheet comes with an answer key. These worksheets are great to use as practice worksheets, math centre activities, homework worksheets, or timed math drills.

The following are two ideas you might like to use for the answer key.

1) If you laminate the answer key, you can get your students to check their own answers. The students can make the proper corrections and hopefully master the concept. These answer keys work great for Math Centres. The students are always eager to check their own work!

2) Teachers that are moving towards “paperless classrooms” are using downloadable educational resources in PDF Format as homework assignments on different technology devices. PDF Files such as this product would allow parents access to the answers.
