Multiplication Game of Chance to Practice Basic Facts

The game of skunk is simple and fun! All you need is a die for each student. My students love playing this game as a fast finisher because of the chance that they could gain a lot of points or possibly lose them all!

Here's how you play!

Directions:
*Players select the SKUNK! Card to use for the game. If the box says to multiply
by 11 then the player multiplies each number by 11 and writes it down on
their recording sheet.

*Each round there is a number that the students do not want to roll and each
round this number changes. Players take turns rolling a die to determine
the “do not want to roll” number at the beginning of each round
(there are 5 rounds total). If the “do not want to roll” number is a 4 and
a player rolls a 4, the player loses all of their points for that round.

*All players start to roll the die multiplying or adding which ever number.
For example, if you roll a 5 and it says to multiply it by 12, you would
write down 60 points. Players may keep rolling until they decide to stop and
keep their points for the round or they roll the
“do not want to roll” number.

*If a player rolls the “do not want to roll” number no matter how many points
they have that player writes down 0 points earned for that round.
Wait for the next round to begin.

*To determine the winner, add up all of
the points from the 5 rounds.

*If time allows, play multiple games!
