Each Multiplication Magic Square provides an interesting challenge as students practice multiplication facts and computation skills. The strategy for each of the 36 puzzles is the same. Cut out the 16 smaller squares and then reassemble them so that all of the touching sides match the multiplication problem with its product. When the sides match, the 16 smaller squares will make a large Magic Square.
The Multiplication Magic Squares download includes:
~9 basic facts puzzles
~9 multiplying by multiples of 10, 100, and 1000 puzzles
~9 multiplying 2 or 3 digits by 1 digit puzzles
~9 multiplying 2 or 3 digits by 2 digits puzzles
~answer keys for each of the 36 puzzles
The puzzles come in three levels of difficulty. In level 1 wizards make creating the Magic Square easy by lining the outer edges of the square. In level 2 the wizards help by forming just the top and bottom edges of the square. Level 3 is most difficult because it must be done without the help of wizards.
These puzzles are great for math centers and as early finisher activities.
