**HOW THE MATH VIDEOS & WORKSHEETS HELP:**

**Parents:** The most common problem for parents is that they want to help their child with math homework, but they do not understand all of the strategies taught in today’s classrooms. These videos allow parents and students to sit down together and learn different strategies to solve math problems.

**Students:** Too often students need more time to process math concepts than what can be offered in the classroom. By being able to watch these videos at their own pace and on their own time, students can rewatch problems being solved and pause the videos for the amount of work time that they need.

**Teachers:** There always seems to be a shortage of time in a classroom. Teachers can use these videos in many ways to help make the most of the time they do have. Some of these ways include as part of a flipped classroom model, for additional practice and review during small groups, centers, or for independent practice time, and for advance the pacing of gifted and talented or high-achieving students.

CCSS4.OA.A.2

Multiply or divide to solve word problems involving multiplicative comparison, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem, distinguishing multiplicative comparison from additive comparison.

CCSS4.OA.A.1

Interpret a multiplication equation as a comparison, e.g., interpret 35 = 5 × 7 as a statement that 35 is 5 times as many as 7 and 7 times as many as 5. Represent verbal statements of multiplicative comparisons as multiplication equations.

CCSS4.NBT.B.5

Multiply a whole number of up to four digits by a one-digit whole number, and multiply two two-digit numbers, using strategies based on place value and the properties of operations. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.
