Multiplication Medical Center is a fun, dramatic, and engaging math lesson where students can practice multi digit multiplication in a way that is more meaningful than a standard workbook page. Teachers will set the scene by announcing that all students have been promoted from (insert grade here) graders to Medical Students. The 'Medical Students' will be briefed on their patent and then get to work! The main resources are all here to go. The only thing you MUST have are bandaids (or stickers) for student to use to 'treat' the injury.
Fun Props (rubber gloves, surgical masks, smocks, etc) can be used to bring the drama up another level!
Multiplication Medical Center is set up so there are 4 different patients. You can use all 4 in the same lesson to differentiate instruction for your students or you can do the lesson 4 different times-treating all of the patients. Multiplication skills range from 2 digit by 2 digit to 4 digit by 2 digit. This will make a great lesson, a fun review, or a very engaging formative. Include rubrics to provide students feedback on their work.
