In this packet students will complete "technical training" and then will apply what they have learned to create their own hot cocoa bar! This is really easy to prepare! All you need to do is make copies of the packet and let students get to work. The only additional resources you might need is white construction paper and recyclables (if you choose that).
Through this project students will mutliply up to 1 digit by 1 digit numbers, they will analyze and make their own bar graphs with scaling, they will add and subtract to make budgets, and will do division. (The division is minimal and students could easily use a calculator for that part if it is too hard for them.)
This project is great for students learning their multiplication facts! This gives them a real life example of when you may use multiplication and builds relevance.
If you want to have a hot cocoa bar in your classroom, I have also included a parent note asking for supplies.
There is a packet with all the same information but with 2 digit by 3 digit multiplication that you would use for an enrichment group!
