I used the zoo project first with a some of my math students that usually finish the textbook material quickly and needed a different kind of challenge. I set them up as a group and they worked together, mostly independently, to build their zoo and while a few of the division ideas were still a little beyond them (that is our next unit) they drew models and were able to figure it out after some hints. For my other students I let them work together or independently to complete the first two pages of the project and then came together as a whole class for some of the other parts, so that everyone was successful. All in all we got a lot of use out of the project and I am looking forward to starting the division project next. Thanks for the great resource, it was just what my class needed.
