Drill drill drill isn't the answer to solving all of math's problems... but it sure does help when it comes to learning multiplication. As I began to teach at the high school level, I found that too many of my students had a poor grasp and recall of their multiplication facts. I developed these drill pages and they REALLY seem to make a difference.
Here is how I use them:
At the beginning of each class we do one of the 36-set of problems. I have found 90 seconds to be a good medium between challenging but still allowing students to be successful (or sometimes I allow them to race and see who can do it the fastest and still remain most accurate!) I practice three days a week, sometimes having students "write off" facts they miss or are weak in, and then at the end of the week I actually take a grade on the final set.
