Multiplication: Stack and Roll
1 to 12
Print activity on stock card paper and cut out game pieces (smilie faces).
Make enough game pieces for each game station to have 10 smilie faces of each color (purple and yellow) at each game board. A 10 diced dice will be needed for each game board used.
Game Instructions for Whole Class Game:
set up —-Place Game board, 20 game pieces (10 yellow and 10 purple) , and one 10 sided dice at each station. Two students at each game board station (one student uses purple and the other the yellow pieces).
to Play——One student rolls the dice and answers the multiplication problem on the game board. Once the student determines the answer, the student places his/her game piece over the answer. The next student then rolls the dice and does the same thing. This process continues until all answers are covered or the students run out of game pieces. The CATCH… If the answer is cover by a game piece, the student stacks their game piece on top of the one that is there to either steal or save the spot from the other student. (no more than 2 game pieces and be over an answer). If two game pieces are on an answer the student can not play one of their pieces and the turn goes back to the other student. Once the game is over, students count the number of answers have their color game piece on top. The player with the most wins.
Moving to the next game—Students that have the most points should move one board to the right and the other students should move one board to the left. This allows students to play different students and complete different addition problems. If games are taking to long use a timer.
Of course the game can be played in small groups!!!!
