Do your students need extra multiplication practice before trying to pass a multiplication test where the problems are in random order? Then this product is for you! These are simple multiplication fact practice pages that focus on two to three factors per page – 0 to 12. I have used these “practice tests” with my third graders for many years. I’ve used them for pre-assessing, for homework practice, and for testing students knowledge of multiplication skip count patterns before giving them a “Mastery” test. After all, what good does it do to give tests with random problems when the student needs extra practice with the pattern itself.
These also allow me to easily set up an individualized multiplication facts program for my entire class – outside of the math text.
I start each student at the first level (test 0 and 1). They can use the paper in class to practice with partners or take home for homework. You decide. Usually I have the fact homework due back on Friday. Then I pass out the test (this copy is the same as their homework) and time students for 6 minutes. I collect and correct. Those passing this practice test can take the Mastery test next week. (Mastery test on 1’s) Those who don’t pass correct their mistakes and practice again the following week. For example, someone taking a practice test on 5, 6, and 7 must pass all three skip count rows before taking the “Mastery 7’s “ test. This is great practice for reviewing what they have learned as well as their new multiplication focus.
There are 48 pages total! Answer keys included. I have enclosed two sets – one set with a patterned header and one set with a plain header for saving ink. I have also left off cute clip art so students are not distracted during their timed test. (Mastery tests are not included as I have found lots of great products with problems in random order on TpT. You can use your favorite to supplement this program.)
