This quick mini lesson will get your students thinking about how we can make multiplication easier! This is the second of three days, where multiplication strategies are explored! I used this a quick whole group lesson, followed by small group instruction and individual practice.
This day looks at how we can double a product to help us solve a harder problem! For instance, if we know that 2 x 4 = 8 then we know that 4 x 4 = 16. This gives a problems to practice with completed arrays, defines the tricks, addresses misconceptions, and allows them to apply this strategy in different ways (using it backwards, doubling a double!)
