These FREE Multiplication Strategy posters compliment the Addition and Subtraction strategy posters you can also find (FREE) in my TPT store. The strategy names are consistent across the posters, to help your class make links between the different strategies they are using with different operations.

These posters provide visual support for your students as they begin to understand and use different mental maths strategies for solving multiplication equations during Number Talks. I also found these posters a helpful reference, as I was transcribing students' defence of their answers during Number Talks!

These posters have visual representations of strategies like 'Double and Half', 'Partial Products' and 'Factoring' - which are very helpful in the teacher's perpetual quest to help students understand why a mathematical strategy actually works!

These posters use examples that are more challenging. The example equations ask children to multiply 2 digit by 2 digit numbers. I found that I used these when I taught a precocious 4th grade! They would also be useful with older classes.

There are two additional sets of posters (also FREE) that use the same strategies, but the strategies are illustrated with easier equations. One set uses examples from the times tables children learn, while the other set uses examples that ask children to multiply a single digit by a 2 digit number. As all of the sets are FREE, you can choose which set or sets would be most helpful in supporting the mathematical reasoning of the children in your class.
