KC Classroom Resources - Multiplication Swat
This is a fun and interactive way for your students to
practise their multiplication tables!
It is an activity for 3 or more students, but you could also adapt it to play as a whole class by dividing into teams.
Print and laminate on either A4 or A3 paper, though I prefer using A3 so the numbers are larger.
Each player will require a fly swat. These can be purchased from a discount store or you could print off the hand included and attach it to a ruler to make a swat (students will have to be more careful not to hit each other’s hands with this method because of the ruler).
Choose one (or more to increase difficulty) multiplication sets and lay the answer cards face on the ground or table.
Appoint a question master. They will use the multiplication sheets to ask the questions to the other students. Encourage them to call them randomly to increase the challenge.
The students with the fly swatters will swat the answer with the fly swatter when they find it. If they’re right then they get to keep the card!
Play continues until there are no cards left. The player with the most cards wins the game!
Pack up is easy as each multiplication table is colour coded! I
suggest storing each set in an labeled ziplock bag.
