These 24 multiplication task cards practice 2 digit by 2 digit and one digit by four digit multiplication. Some of these cards are multi-step which adds extra rigor and also allows you to differentiate, if needed. Students could work on these independently, in partners, or in groups. Also, they would work well in a math center. These questions are appropriate for 4th grade and would be a good review for 5th graders, as well.
Common Core Objective
Multiply a whole number of up to four digits by a one-digit whole number, and multiply two two-digit numbers, using strategies based on place value and the properties of operations. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models. (Grade 4 expectations in this domain are limited to whole numbers less than or equal to 1,000,000. A range of algorithms may be used.)
