Multiplication – Understanding Repeated Addition
Join the three mouse friends as they explore repeated addition. They begin their discovery with problems that are on array work mats. The mice see how to set up and use an array to help solve the repeated addition. Then they see how the repeated addition can turn into a multiplication equation and solved using multiplication. There are many problems that can be projected or printed for teacher/student use during a mini lesson or during guided math. Then there are 32 small word problems that would work great at a math center with provided array mats. Students can use the snap cards to practice building arrays. Students can build the arrays by drawing on a work mat or by using the popcorn bags and popcorn pieces as manipulatives to actually build the problem to demonstrate their understanding of building an array and finding the answer. They will be able to use their picture representation to grasp how addition and multiplication are related.
There are 4 Student Response forms provided so students can provide evidence of their hard work!
Your students will love working with the mice, the popcorn theme, and possibly using REAL popcorn as a math treat while working!
I hope you and your students love learning how to use repeated addition to step into multiplication!
