This is an anchor chart and "packet" of multiplication story problems. Students use the CUBES strategy to solve:
Box clue words
E (write equation with blank or "n" for unknown)
Show work and solve
Problems are double spaced for easy circling, underlining, and boxing. They also leave specific room for equations and work space.
This has really helped my second and third grade students take their time and read problems carefully to ensure they are choosing the write operation and using the correct numbers. Making CUBES a habit will especially help when students are faced with 2- and 3-step problems.
