The game is called "Race to 1000". Students get put into pairs (a group of 3 is fine), and roll two dice of your choosing. I use 12-sided dice. Each player will have this double-sided sheet in front of them.
How play works:
- First person rolls two dice and writes down what they rolled.
- Then they multiply those numbers together and write it in the product column. In the Sum column, you add the previous product to the new product. *The first roll will have the same product and sum, because there is no previous product.
- The second player follows suit.
- The players switch off rolling, calculating their product and sum. The first player to get to a sum of 1,000 is the winner!
This is a great way to build skills and the students love it.
