Basic multiplication and division facts are practiced and reinforced through these ONE STEP story problem task cards. Students gain confidence and problem-solving skills using familiar math facts.
Set includes 20 task cards for students who are still learning multiplication and division facts. Students must decide if they need to multiply or divide and the one-step problems use only basic facts for practice.
These problems are basic facts from 2’s through 9’s. Some “unstated” numbers are also used in this set – for example, students must know that there are seven days in a week and how many “half a dozen” means.
Most cards contain just the basic information needed to solve the story problem, and they're written in a straightforward manner. Other cards are a bit more “wordy” and contain some extra-unnecessary information that can be eliminated.
*Cards 17 – 24 could be considered Challenge cards. They're the toughest problems, so read over them before assigning them to your beginner-level students.
If you're looking for a word-problem strategy to use with your students, I recommend using the CUBES/CUBED word problem-solving strategy. The CUBES posters promote a word problem-solving strategy that students love. Click here to check them out.
