• Game board
• Counters (1 per player)
• Players (2-3)
This game is a variation of Snakes and Ladders. Each player rolls the dice and moves that many spaces. If a player lands on any part of a ladder they can go up it provided they answer the multiplication or division problem on a card read out by another player correctly. If they land anywhere on a snake they go down it unless they answer the multiplication and division problem on the card correctly. If the problem is answered correctly the player can stay where they are. The player to reach the end first is the winner.
Suggestions and Variations
This game helps students practise their multiplication and division facts. Students can get extra practise if they each get their own game board and have the opportunity to colour and laminate it. This way they each have a copy to practise with at school and home. It is recommended that the game board be printed on A3.
Multiplication and division cards can be added or removed from the game depending on where students are at. E.g. If students are learning their 2s and 5s then they only need to play with the 2s and 5s cards.
