These Multiplication vs. Exponent Organizers 1-3 help the students differentiate between the two algorithms needed to solve a regular multiplication problem and a base that contains an exponent. After each set of problems, the students then compare the products using the <, >, or = symbols. They quickly begin to realize that, most of the time, the exponents create a much larger product. This greatly assisted my students as we ventured into the order of operations. Enjoy the first one as a preview.
