This activity requires previous preparations but it is a nice practical way to explain a concept of multiplication to a child. I prepared this activity a few years ago when my daughter started to learn multiplication and she really enjoyed it!
The idea behind is to prepare several simple Lego® constructions which a child can easily reconstruct from a photo. We provide a child with said photo, worksheets, and enough bricks to build multiple identical objects. A child has to think of how many bricks of each kind (s)he will need for every construction and write down the number in a table.
Since everyone has a different collection of bricks it is practically impossible to prepare a universal worksheet. Therefore, I provide this as a free template example/minilesson idea based on which you can create your own worksheets.
You can, of course, use the provided worksheets if you happen to have enough bricks to make these constructions.
I hope you and your children will enjoy it!
