This is a worksheet that is an introduction to multiplying decimals. There is a chart with 8 multiplication of decimals problems. In the first column students round each decimal to the nearest whole number, and then solve by multiplying the whole numbers. In the next column (depending on what your students know) they will either solve the actual problem, or use a calculator to solve the original problem. In the last column students find the difference between the actual answer and the estimate.
I used this as an introduction and had my students use calculators after they found the estimates. I wanted them to see that the difference should be a small number, so that they can analyze their answers for reasonableness once we actually start multiplying decimals.
